Red, White & Royal Blue

So, this is our first book-to-screen adaptation after The Summer I Turned Pretty. This was incredibly sweet, adorable, and the best kind of wish fulfillment.

Granted, I cried. A ton. And didn't bother to have any tissues nearby, so that wasn't super cute. But lesson learned for next time.

Such a pleasant way to spend two hours. Even with the tears.

Comments

I sort of get it. I think I'm just looking at it from a 2023 POV. It doesn't feel like a scandal to be dating someone of the same sex. But I guess the UK is very stuck in their ways. (Although, it was fun to see Stephen Fry try to be upset about it. Lol). Also, I LOVED Zahra! Actually, most of the cast was spectacular. I don't think I've seen most of them in anything else. I'll be on the lookout for them in the future though!

Dana, the reason Zahra is so freaked out is because she would have to deal with the scandal if it came out. Remember, she just dealt with the cake catastrophe a few months previously. She probably saw the headlines flashing before her eyes. If the trade deals were at jeopardy with the cake thing, the UK will most likely declare war for violating their favorite prince ❤️
