I really think this 'date' is totally gonna endear Matt to Julie. There's zero chance she likes him less after this. This is the kind of person she wants to date, not 'I'm Matt Saracen give me some tickets.'
Also, I'm writing this summary here, I realize I 100% mixed up Tim and Smash at the end of this episode. Oops.

I honestly didn’t get why Tyra was so upset… she cheated on Tim with Smash and then shortly after they broke up and she was running around with that land surveyor guy while Tim was hooking up with Lyla so it makes no sense she feels betrayed or whatever. For Matt kissing Julie, I think she’s just young and it surprised her but I don’t think she felt it was a bad thing.
