"Nudity is a subject, not a pretext to something else". Part 2.

Part 1. 

Do you think Polish women have greater acceptance of themselves?
A lot of women, who do not have complexes, visit me. They know how their body looks and even though it does not meet the catwalk standard, they want photos, which do not blur the lines. Only one per cent of people meet the standard, though. All the rest are a great variety. The search for this variety is the most magnificent element of my work.

You’ve seen enough of women’s bodies …
It is a curiosity to me. The reason I take photos is to see it and show the truth about it. It might sound turgid, but a nude person is more authentic then a dressed one.

I sometimes have an impression that you make the women look a bit ugly. You emphasize their rough characteristics. You could have treated them a bit more delicately.
I do not think that I make them look a bit ugly. I show their distinguishing features. By the way, the girl, you are talking about, has quite a delicate look on that photo. …

You’ve shown two of her biggest physical flaws. Sharp nose and protruding ears.
To my mind these are not flaws. People perceive a bit bigger nose or ears as something one should be ashamed of. It does not make sense. Such attitude causes negative self-perception, it affects relationships. What I love about my job most is that I can take photos without following „glossy” standards.

Do women give consent easily to look so natural?
Sometimes they tell me that hyper pigmentation, wrinkles and thigh brows are much too visible. I tell them to have a go, if they feel bad about it I’ll remove the photo from the portfolio. It turns out that that the more truthful the picture is the more positive comments follow. Such a reaction proves to women that they judge themselves too harsh.

Do you allow make up before the session?
I prefer women without sharp make up. However, the most important thing is that they feel good. If she is used to having make up I do not tell her to restrain form it. I care to show the real image of the person.

Do you have to convince women to pose for you?
No, they just come. If a woman had thought of a nude photo, all she has to decide about is stylistics. The girls who write to me have already seen the photos on the Internet. I suppose that if they turn to me they are happy with the end result, so I do not need to convince them during the session.

Do you keep the distance? Do you mean to say it is easy.
Very easy. The distance between me and the model is huge. Both physical, since I stand at  a considerable distance, and mental, since I do not give comments. It is just a photo session.  I try to make it 100% clear from the very beginning that it is only about photos, nudity is not a pretext.
