Friday Night Lights 1X15: Blinders
Added 2024-03-26 21:33:10 +0000 UTCI had a fairly difficult time discussing this episode. As a fairly privileged, old, white lady, there wasn't a ton I could speak to. And I think it would be disrespectful if I pretended I could. It certainly didn't keep me quiet, though. So many of the characters sucked in this episode. I did really love the protest at the end, too.
That said, I'm so excited about the possibility of Jason on the quad rugby team. I want him to shove this so hard in Buddy's face.

There was in the first episode, when they were being interviewed Smash was asked about rumors of certain team mates being racist and he inferred there was but he didn’t let it stop him, and inferred Tim was racist. In Tim’s interview he said he didn’t care about Smash’s color but just didn’t like him. they didn’t focus on it after that but it was mentioned, but we do see the black and white kids segregated during or after games. the only friendship we see on the show between the characters of different characters is Matt and Smash. Off the show though I do think it is common in football. From what I’ve heard was rare for a black quarterbacks because of racism and that position in the team being seen as one of intelligence and not just athletic ability, and that there’s been between 75-80 in the NFL period. and yes your opinion does matter if you’re an ally willing to walk out with those being discriminating against, civil rights always needs allies on the other side.
