Show Notes From April 15, 2021 & More

Yesterday was a crazy news cycle and rough one. We were editing show notes up until the last minute. Technology was a nightmare for us yesterday. Not only was the microphone in Studio 2 not behaving (again), but Zoom was not recording audio in the cloud (Zoom issue) on Thursday afternoon. We had to try the Boonie Dog interview four times, with the fourth time done in Studio One using equipment from the marketing agency side of the house (and a much nicer tone on audio if you noticed, but no camera on me). 

One thing we will start adding to show notes is the links to where we got our research. Right now you're getting the copy you literally see me holding up in the studio (and it usually has some scribbles on it with last-minute edits) and Jennifer reading on her phone. We don't add the links because it would just waste trees, but we're sure you'd like to see our research materials.

We will try to put some time in Studio 2 this weekend to move off of the USB microphone from Blue Yeti we have another mixer, and I'm feeling that we should just buy one for Malcontent News at this point.

The system we run the show on doesn't have separate input/output jacks so on paper, USB audio is better. An analog system may give us more studio reliability (good) but could cook the audio port (bad, really bad). So we're going to dig a little bit to see what is best.

On the subject of audio, we got Jennifer a new microphone about six weeks ago (thank you Patreons!) and that helped, but still too much far away sound. Jennifer doesn't have the luxury of a fixed studio so she is working within the confines of her home (we are hoping in 4 to 6 more weeks everyone can be in the studio and we can have an engineer). We did get her a lav (thank you Patreons again) that was rated well and inexpensive ($35 and change - full disclosure) and we hope to have that up and running for Monday. Her voice should be a lot richer with no reverb at that point.
