Added 2022-03-16 21:01:02 +0000 UTCA few moments ago we were sent a video allegedly taken in the basement of a hospital in Mariupol.
In the video, blankets line a dark hallway, with the bodies of children wrapped up. A small blanket is selected, and as it is pulled away, the body of a newborn, the umbilical stump still attached is revealed.
My immediate reaction was this was fake. This has to be fake. Warning sign number one of detecting fake content - did it cause a deep emotional response? If it did, red flag. My sense that this was fake was so deep, I saw no reason to even try to validate it.
I'm not a deeply religious man but dear God, it isn't fake. (no pictures in the USA Today story filed through the AP, but the body was buried in a mass grave as reported by the AP).
