Added 2022-03-24 21:25:01 +0000 UTCWe're getting a better idea of how the Ukrainians are using volunteer forces, and solid evidence of foreign fighters being unarmed, given only 10 rounds if they even get a weapon, and held against their will are untrue.
Foreign fighters who's entire combat duty was a four year tour of duty in infantry and a lot of time playing paintball? Maybe. People that know what they are doing - a big nope.
The biggest revelation? Ukraine is close to full control of Irpin. Multiple videos from multiple locations showing volunteer fighters from the United States and Georgia doing mop up operations. Further back from the fighting Ukrainian police are working the streets and humanitarian volunteers are looking for survivors and pets.

ASSESSMENT: We aren't thrilled with the lack of OPSEC, the use of a mobile device in a combat area, and showing faces. Russian intelligence could identify people, trace the phone numbers, and track their movements. Russia used social intelligence to identify retired British SAS, tracked their phones, and launched the cruise missile strike on the IPSC base in Yavoriv, Ukraine. We love the receipts, we wish they respected OPSEC more (cover faces, post the video a few days later, don't pan the street at the end to make geolocation easier).

What does this show us?
Foreign fighters appear to be positioned behind Ukrainian forces, at least in Irpin. More experienced teams are in hotter areas. We believe the use of foreign units to patrol and protect rear areas is a good utilization of resources. It also protects the flanks of advancing troops and protect supply lines.
