Russia-Ukraine Flash Report for 5-28-22 14:30 PDT - Kherson Counteroffensive

We can safely say this. There is a significant counteroffensive happening in the northern part of the Kherson Oblast. There is a lack of specific intelligence. However, this has a very similar feel to the North Kharkiv Counteroffensive. The Ukrainian General Staff and Southern Command are both stating a counteroffensive has started. Pro-Russian accounts are reporting that Ukrainian forces have made significant gains, particularly along the T2207 highway south of Davydiv Brid. 

For now there are only written reports across all social media channels and some civilian reports. Russia severely restricted cellular and Internet access in this region almost a month ago, so the best social intelligence isn't readily available.

There is an ongoing debate right now on what we feel is "confirmed" versus what is "unsubstantiated."

There are enough reports that Ukraine controls Davydiv Brid and established a wet crossing for us to believe this is accurate.

It appears that Ukrainian forces have broken through the Russian lines and advanced to Bilohirka to the southwest and were able to recon to Bruskynske. There is no information to support that Ukrainian forces have captured Bruskynske.

There is confirmation that NATO M777 artillery is in this area and being used.

There is strong evidence that Russian forces in Velka Oleksandrivka are in a salient, and Ukrainian forces have advanced to Mala Oleksandrivka to the south, but are still on the west side of the Inhulets River. We don't believe the reports that a second wet crossing has been stablished there are accurate.

We are being flooded with a lot of information we're trying to confirm and not sure we'll have the whole picture by tonight's situation report.

We can confidently say, there is an offensive happening in the northwest region of the Kherson Oblast and it appears to be significant.
