On Sunday, Ukrainian forces reached a culmination of the Izyum counteroffensive which has focused on SOF and artillery operations west and northwest of the city. There was a lull in operations due to a shortage of artillery ammunition and the line of conflict from Bairak to the north to Virnopillya to the south has been static since late April.
Ukrainian forces liberated Zavody and Spivakivka due west of Izym, and have pushed up to 5 kilometers into what the Russians have dubbed "Sherwood forest." The line of conflict to the west is now 20 kilometers from Izyum and is weakly defended by the Russians, Additionally, Spivakivka is on the north side of the Siverskyi Donets, with Ukraine establishing a successful wet crossing and secure bridgehead.
A small salient has formed to the south of Zavody, now exposed on three sides. Russian forces are advancing from Izyum effectively again in the southeast direction, but the western flank is very exposed.
