In yesterday's Situation Report, we shared what FSB Colonel and wanted war criminal Igor "Girkin" Strelkov wrote on Telegram and assessed that Girkin has likely crossed a bridge too far.
Strelkov was arrested by Russian troops today trying to enter Ukraine from Russia under an assumed name. He had shaved his head and removed his mustache but was using the ID and passport given to him by the FSB in 2014 - Sergei Runov. That's the same assumed name he used from 2014 to 2016 to move between Russia and Ukraine.
His associate, Alexander Zhuchkovsky, confirmed his detention. Zhuchkovsky insists that Girkin had only tried to enter Ukraine to engage in fighting and was not planning to interfere with Russian commanders.
We don't know the nature of the detention, if he will be released, or if we will face charges for something. What we do know is, that we correctly predicted this would happen.
