We're Number 3,579! Thank You!

OK, maybe we shouldn't be that happy about that statistic.

There are an estimated 2,000,000 podcasts in the world across all platforms. After 16 days, there is enough data for tracking agencies to give us a rank.

After our first 16 days, less than half of that on the biggest platforms, we are ranked number 3,579 worldwide for all podcasts and all topics.

That puts the Russia-Ukraine War Update Podcast in the top 2/10 of 1% of all podcasts. This journey started with you when our Patreons started asking/suggesting we turn the Situation Report into a podcast for those who don't have time to read or prefer to consume information by listening.

I was reluctant after being told that having 15 to 25 regular listeners out of the gate was considered a good start. Creating the Monday through Saturday podcast takes 10 to 12 human hours a day between two to three people to script, record, process, publish and promote. None of us are getting paid to do it, by the way.

That is why a lot of other work slowed down over the last four to six weeks (and why the corner is turning as we find efficiencies).

We are very close to cracking into the top 250 news (not daily news, all news) list, falling just under the threshold.

What can you do to help?

Writing reviews on your platforms is a big way to help! The algorithm calculating the ranking isn't just based on the number of downloads or new followers. Like all other AIs, a secret sauce of many metrics (listening time isn't one of them as many people download and listen offline, so there is no way to track that metric, this is all pretty fascinating to me). Reviews and more of them are one of the metrics followed.
