Added 2022-08-24 18:06:27 +0000 UTCIn another display of operational security failure, the world got a battle damage assessment of the Nova Kakhovka Bridge. Specifically, the part of the span that arches out over the Dnipro is the complex section to repair.
That's not buffing out, and no amount of loosely attached rebar, lumber, and quick-setting concrete will fix this. There isn't a viable single-lane option across the bridge, certainly not a scale.
Light vehicles could creep across as we saw Ukrainian forces doing in Severodonetsk. However, supply at scale is now impossible. Ammunition supplies are becoming a real issue for Russian forces across Ukraine. In the short term, Bakhmut, Donetsk, and the Kherson area are the least impacted. In our assessment, Kherson will be the next axis to see a slowdown in the rate of fire (beyond what we are already seeing).
