Added 2022-07-23 00:23:00 +0000 UTCSort of. There was some more clarity on the situation in Vysokopillya. Ukraine has it surrounded on three sides and holds fire control to the south. That area south of the town is just open fields, hardly any roads beyond two-lane tractor and Jeep tracks. Almost no trees and no discernible water features. The area would be awful to traverse without extensive counterbattery or air superiority.
It is estimated three BTGs are stuck in the salient. An estimated 1,200 troops, including VDV, armor, and light infantry.
Additionally, Russian forces in the areas of Arkhanhelske are also at risk of encirclement, reportedly because the T-2207 Ground Line of Communication (GLOC - supply line) is reportedly severed south of Davydiv Brid.
Based on reports and available information, we adjusted the map to align to existing terrain to make a best "guess" on where the line of conflict is. Based on that information, we moved the line closer to Vysokopillya, following natural terrain features to draw the line.
We still aren't fully certain of all the facts. The head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Oleksiy Arestovich, confirmed the situation and explained how the Russian troops are truly encircled - which gives credibility to his update.
We will be watching this situation very closely and consider this unverified. However, we believe the reports have significant weight.
