Added 2022-07-27 23:45:40 +0000 UTCThe German Ministry of Defense with approval from government officials has agreed to "sell" 100 PzH-2000 self-propelled 155mm howitzers (SPG) to Ukraine. Production has already started.
The PzH-2000 SPGs have integrated the Ukrainian fire control software, enabling the programming of the Excalibur shells for +/- 5 meter accuracy at up to 41 km range. Additionally, it provides easier coordination with other systems and units as Ukraine continues to learn the concepts of Combined Arms Combat at the multiple brigade level.
The announcement comes on the same day the flow of natural gas to Germany was cut in half by Gazprom.
In other news, trains carrying Cold War-era 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery pieces were photographed in Russia heading west. The 2S3 is still in service in the Russian military, with the last major upgrade in 2000.
