Russia-Ukraine Flash Report 08 MAR 2023 21:40 PST - Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant De-Energized
Added 2023-03-09 05:36:10 +0000 UTCBoth power connections, the 330 kV backup, and 750 kV primary, have been disconnected due to Russia's missile attack.
Reactors 5 and 6 were safely brought to a cold shutdown, which cut off the heat and hot water supply to Enerhodar. The facility is currently powered by 18 emergency diesel generators. Energoatom reports there is a ten-day supply of diesel fuel at the station.
It would be very risky, given the state of the plant due to non-use for months, to bring reactors to a low-power state and run in "island mode" if the diesel fuel supply reaches a critical level.
