Russia-Ukraine SITREP for 16 APR 2023 23:59* - Waiting for the Counteroffensive

Are you new to our Patreon? You need to click on the link to download the PDF attachment, which has links to all the videos referenced in the podcast.

We are making today's Situation Report public due to a significant number of people who learned about our organization for the first time.

This is Report 360, which is 54 pages.

What's the big story? Small changes to the war map with little change in Bakhmut. Russian forces have moved from other operational areas to Bakhmut, which is slowing the operational tempo theaterwide.

The second story? There are more signs that Ukraine is setting conditions for its counteroffensive, but the biggest factor isn't combat potential - it's mud and an uncooperative weather forecast.

Bonus story? If you haven't read our story about Sarah Bils, you can read it on our news site - Malcontent News, and in the Google News app. Regrettably, a number of publications have decided to plagiarize our work, in some cases word for word, including The Telegraph, Nexta, and most disappointingly, as we are a backer of their Patreon, Ukrainian Pravda. So if you want it from the O.G. source - there you go.

Ya we're aware - we put some stories on the cutting room floor yesterday. it was one of those days the report would be 70+ pages.

Thank you

The good news is that this has been largely corrected, and the news agency that started the whole chain of plagiarism, The Insider (Russia version) made sweeping edits to their story with multiple links back and a quote box back to our news site. So all is well in the world.

A "hint" - and "significant numbers" no. But definitely, some have said I don't want to go back. For some, it is tough. If you have family at home, even say pensioner parents who will need your support - it's tough to say I'm not going back and stay in a country where your loyalty and motivation will forever be questioned.

I think it was a make up day in Central/Eastern Europe and Russia due to Holy Week - a big burst of activity and news

As I was saying your reporting on the situation in Sudan brings some depth to an otherwise murky situation. Kudos to the team; this sitrep is above and beyond !!!

WOW!!! a huge load of information in todays sitrep. First, didn't Hungary just conclude an agreement with Russia extending their purchase of of oil, natural gas and Nuclear Fuels from Russia? Your reporting on the situation in

Is there any hint that significant numbers are saying no? Is that part of the reason for the lopsided repatriation?

Big credit to our new EIC Robert, who is doing an incredible job of getting articles edited and backlinks to our original story.

Thank you - and the WSJ did great work in parallel.

Absolutely - but I don't think we will see any of them in large quantities until the counteroffensive, when and where that may be

Yes, they can choose not to be repatriated. They have to sign a form before being returned that they consent to being part of the transfer.

Sucks that so many didn’t give you guys credit for the story, but clearly people are paying attention to your writing. I know you said you won’t comment on the pentagon leaks, but one of the documents stated Ukraine has almost double the tanks of Russia in the theater, and also more armored personal carriers. How is that even possible? If the info isn’t false, does that mean Russia’s reserve stocks are in terrible shape?

Here's the RT take...https://www.rt.com/news/574853-donbass-devushka-us-navy/

The Donbass Devushka story is in the cover of the paper version of the WSJ (yes, I am one of those dinosaurs). Awesome, incredible fantastic job, Malcontent.

AnaR737

When the NATO trained units are deployed will you be noting that in the sitrep?

Can Russian POWs choose not to be repatriated? It sounds like it would be a ticket to jail or the front lines.
