Russia-Ukraine Flash Report 09 MAY 2023 02:30 PDT - 51 Vehicles in Moscow Victory Day Parade
Added 2023-05-09 09:27:09 +0000 UTCIt's worse than we thought. Earlier in the year, Dmitry Peskov reported that there would be an estimated 125 military vehicles at the 2023 Moscow Victory Day Parade. In 2022 there were 137, and in 2021 over 200.
Fifty-one.
That includes the leading T-34 from World War II and 10 Z-STS Akhmat MRAPs only used by Chechen forces.
The Tigr-Ms and VPK-Urals are used by OMON and the Rosgvardia, hinting that 29 of the vehicles in today's parade were for internal security.
The parade order:
- 1 T-34
- 7 Tigr-M Infantry Mobility Vehicles
- 6 VPK-Ural Infantry Mobility Vehicles
- 10 Z-STS Akhmat MRAPs - used exclusively by Chechen forces
- 1 BTR-82A Armored Personnel Carrier
- 6 Iskander-M launchers
- 1 BTR-82A Armored Personnel Carrier
- 6 S-400 antiaircraft launchers
- 1 BTR-82A Armored Personnel Carrier
- 3 RS-24 Yars mobile ICBM launchers
- 6 Tigr-M Infantry Mobility Vehicles flanking the RS-24 Yars
- 3 of 7 prototype YPK-7829 Boomerang Infantry Fighting Vehicles
ASSESSMENT: If Moscow had the military hardware to spare, they would have displayed it. Victory Day Parades are more for internal audiences than external, and certainly, the average Russia will notice how few vehicles were present.
