That was in the SITREP a few days ago :-)

This is actually a subject I can speak on as my wife is Azeri and I have been to Azerbaijan several times. It is the most secular Arabic country I have ever been to. Actually they don't like being called Arabic, they refer to themselves as European. Their greatest allies are Israel and Turkey and they are enemies of Iran. There are miniskirts and yoga pants everywhere and if you see someone in a burka it is nearly always a foreigner. In 2020 I was absolutely stunned to see a young man sitting on a bench on Nizami Street in the main city of Baku with hundreds of people walking by. He was obviously gay ( high heels, makeup, lipstick) yet he was just sitting unmolested. Now that is not the norm but it was really impressive that he felt safe enough to express himself. A little known fact is that about 18 percent of Iran is actually Azeris who the Iranians are terrified of. Many of the big protests that you hear of in Iran are often initiated by Azeris. Their relationship with Russia has always been very strained and basically one based on necessity rather than any comradery. As the Soviet Union was dissolving, Russia invaded Baku and took most of the resistance fighters to an island in the Caspian sea and murdered them. You can go to the island today and still find finger bones and parts of clothing of the Azeris killed in the 1990's. I always thought our relationship with Azerbaijan should be much closer than it is.

Air-To-Air Missiles From UK Now Being Used By Ukraine As SAMs The new ad hoc ground-based air defense system is the latest advanced Western weapon rushed into service by Ukraine. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/asraam-air-to-air-missiles-from-uk-being-used-by-ukraine-as-sams "When air-launched, targets can reportedly be engaged at a distance of more than 15 miles, although unconfirmed accounts assess ASRAAM range as much greater than this, perhaps as far as 31 miles. Again, this is a range after launch from a fast-moving aircraft, at high altitude, maximizing kinematic performance, and the distance would be reduced dramatically in a surface-launched application."

Azerbaijan to send mine clearance vehicles to Ukraine https://mil.in.ua/en/news/azerbaijan-to-send-mine-clearance-vehicles-to-ukraine/ Symbolically this seems important as Azerbaijan is a member of the CSTO. Can't be making the Kremlin happy.
