What's the second story? Chaos in the Kremlin continues with General Surovikin still missing, General Popov relieved of command, and PMC Wagner turning over its weapons to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

This is what Reuters reported V Putin as saying today about Ukraine and NATO: "This will not increase the security of Ukraine itself. And in general it will make the world much more vulnerable," he said. Any country has the right to improve its security, he added, but not at another country's expense. Russia is now an irony free zone! Putin’s pretext for invading Ukraine was for Russian security… and I think we can safely say that being invaded is very much at Ukraine’s expense!

Something to think about when considering the back and forth between Ukraine and NATO. I think it is the nature of communication and relationships that back and forth occurs. People (or collectives of people) can't read each others minds, perfectly anticipate reactions, and are prone to make mistakes. Different parties also have different needs, even if they are the best of allies. Back and forth should be expected from time to time and welcomed as it indicates lines of communication are open and healthy, and is often the only way to get to the best final result. I know this sounds obvious and perhaps trite, but I hope also deep at the same time. It is not a cope to say recent events should be viewed as strength, not weakness.

Russia may say that they are already at war with NATO, but they don’t seem to be willing to cross into a NATO country and trigger article 5
