According to Milton's poem, Abdiel is an angel who joins Lucifer's rebellion, but just the night before the first attack, he changes his mind and abandons the cause (provoking ridicule from Lucifer's followers).
During the rebellion he is one of the defending angels who seriously injures Lucifer.
According to the writer Isaac Asimov, Abdiel may be a self-insert of Milton himself in his poem.
As a detail of his design in Lightbringer, his skin shows areas of depigmentation, typical of vitiligo.

Abdiel, como se mencionó en una publicación anterior, es un ángel peculiar: no aparece en el canon bíblico oficial, pero sí en Paradise Lost.
Según el poema de Milton, Abdiel es un ángel que se une a la rebelión de Lucifer, pero justo la noche antes del primer ataque, cambia de opinión y abandona la causa (provocando las burlas de los seguidores de Lucifer).
Durante la rebelión es uno de los ángeles defensores que hiere gravemente a Lucifer.
Según el escritor Isaac Asimov, Abdiel puede ser una autoinserción del propio Milton en su poema.
Como detalle de su diseño en Lightbringer, su piel muestra zonas de despigmentación, propias del vitíligo.
