My first artwork is going to further explore the early evolution of the birrin, and show that even in deep time their ancestors were already showing signs of the cunning predators they would some day become.
The earliest stage I have so far explored is the basketworm, seen above, a passive creature occupying a similar niche as filter feeding marine worms on earth. As evolution continued, these proto-birrin began more actively pursuing food, and their sensory, locomotory and nervous systems began to become more complex and integrated to tackle more mobile prey.
