2015-12-25 13:00:16 +0000 UTCI find that there is a lot of diversity in slow moving creatures, but when it comes to speed and flight, streamlining often takes over. So we have hummingbirds and hummingbird hawk moths on earth both occupying a similar niche, and both evolving similar forms from very different starting points. In the case of this creature I would call it convergent evolution with earth species. And I am glad you like it! Hope you had/have a good holiday :)

I like how specific this body shape looks at first, in a "what are the odds an alien would look like that?"- kind of way, except this very shape has evolved on earth several times in groups very different from one another (birds and moths, for example). Generally speaking, I love how exploring their tree of life gives us a better understanding of the birrin themselves. And may I add, in the spirit of the holidays, how very glad I am you're sharing your art with us :). I've rarely seen something as captivating as your birrin project, I find myself constantly daydreaming about this world you've envisoned. All the best!
