Birrin Book and Patreon
Added 2018-03-14 09:19:34 +0000 UTCI have decided to develop the first book set on the Birrin world.
This poses an interesting question; how should Patreon feature into this development? I am open to your feedback, but the following options come to mind:
1: Nothing is changed, but my Patreon essentially goes dormant while the book is created. Artworks developed for the book will need to be kept secret for the most part, and I will have limited time for unrelated art.
2: This Patreon is changed to Monthly, which means once a month pledges would be charged, this money going towards developing artwork for the book. Sketches and progress updates would be provided.
3: The Patreon remains per-image based, but the charges are for simpler, sketchier artworks as part of developing the world for the Birrin book.
Your thoughts, Patreons, are greatly appreciated!

I'm somewhere between 2 and 3.

2018-03-19 08:17:39 +0000 UTCI would prefer 3, because first of all, I'm really hyped for the book, so I kinda see it as a priority, and second, I am a sucker for concept art and in-development stuff.
2018-03-19 08:10:51 +0000 UTCI vote for 2; not only does it give you a steady source of income but you can toss up simple things like doodle sketches and ideas that won't spoil too much about the book, unless you want to use some of the pieces going into it like tutorials or something. Either way I'm happy to keep being a patron because I'd love the idea of a Birrin book ; u ;

2018-03-15 01:09:14 +0000 UTC2 makes more sense to me; though if you go for 3, you post simpler artworks and-or sketches of early/rejected avenues (for example, if the Birrin had ever been tried as a triradial species, one of those images) final say goes to you, regardless.

2018-03-14 15:34:20 +0000 UTCI second Jake - a monthly update would be awesome! Getting to see something as it's developed is always cool - and for my own patreon, I've been finding that sharing comics every month has been pretty satisfying, too.

2018-03-14 15:11:05 +0000 UTCI think you switch it to monthly. Like Simone says, it's a more stable way for the creator and the patron to support something more longterm. If you Kickstart the book, maybe you have some exclusives for early backers and let patrons be the first to access the kickstarter.

2018-03-14 13:52:05 +0000 UTCI chose 2 just because i like it when i know how much i'm spending and the artist can get some money unless said artist actively puts the patreon on hold. But yes i see your point.
