You asked for some leveling advice, and I think the best advice is to put points into the attributes that your weapons and spells scale with. It doesn't matter that you aren't seeing much in the way of character traits since you're in soft cap land with your primary attributes. If you feel like ending it, it's actually not that long anymore when you rush the ending, but fully clearing the game (and DLC!) is gonna take some legwork still, but as long as you guys are having fun together, keep it going! It's very entertaining! The reason why the damage was so low is because bosses take less damage based on the number of people in the game, so with 4 people he takes ~33% damage, with 2 it's 67%!

And is it worth following in his footsteps if this is how you might end up? (Attacking him will give you some interesting information, and the game has allowed you to target him). It's pretty easy to accidentally complete the game from this point, although there is still so much more content. DS2 was always going to be a bit of an uphill climb but co-op has been a really good format for getting through it. You guys vibe very well together and some of the more unhinged moments have been hilarious.
