The Ute

Working on the birrin family ute design ('pickup' for American friends).

Either thin metal or fabric over a welded steel frame. Lead acid  batteries due to a lack of lithium tech in the valley and a huge radio  antennae (no mobile coverage since the Fall War).

The raised  windshield lets the four-eyed birrin see all around the vehicle at once,  though vulnerable in a roll over crash. Risk is mitigated by a roll bar  and using tempered glass or plastic.

Interesting! I shall research Nickel Iron batteries.

I really like this birrin coupe utility design! Like how with very little resources they can build a functioning, versatile vehicle using a relatively easily available power source. As far a I'm conserned, however, there are a few things they would probably do differently to make their vehicles more capable and long-lasting. Firstly Lead-acid batteries would most likely not be that reliable compared with primitive, yet long-lasting, lighter and safer Nickel-iron batteries, which only need to be filled with distilled water instead of sulfuric acid, which would be less obtainable. Plus, steel would probably not be that obtainable after the Fall, especially for other than the military, which is why covering frame with fabric or leather would make more sense.
