The race for a new video! (Blog)

G'day champs! Long time, no see... sorry about that.

For real next time I see the doc, I'm gonna investigate some ADHD meds or something cause man life just goes around and around, not like a circle but more like an oval: short bursts of functioning with the longer sections of just twiddling my thumbs. But having said all that, I AM WORKING ON A NEW VIDEO!!! 1

What is it? Let's discuss!

----------------------------------

I WILL BE AT OZ COMIC-CON: Sunday June 8th! (my birthday)

My first time going, kinda nervous but if you're gonna be there, shoot me a message and we can catch up! 😊

----------------------------------

Where have I been?) After the week of Pro Skater stuff, I had a busy few weeks with family and friends which was a much needed recharge, though getting back into the swing has been a bit tough. I've been emotionally happy, I guess it's mostly just been feeling stuck in a rut, looking for something new to do but every new thing I wanna do feels impossible. It's a feeling I used to struggle with a lot when I was younger so weird that it reared it's ugly head again. So I've been weathering that mild storm.

I also got a NEW POOTER!!! 🖥️

My previous one I've rocked since 2017 was starting to fail and has been holding on barely for the last 12 months so because that spurt of Tony Hawk content gave the channel a burst, I was able to bite the bullet. So I'm all equipped now (which makes me feel extra bad I haven't been making the most of it until just this past week). Runs like a charm, I've been getting all my kit setup again and settled into Windows 11 🤮 and like any "real gamer"tm the first thing I did was download emulators for 30 year old machines, hell yeah!

Next video!) I've been getting real into creators that look at level design stuff as of late, AnyAustin and Foolish Pedro and so I've sparked an idea that's been on the backburner for years and years now on such a topic. As you can see by the screenshot, it does involve a car (Forza Horizon 3) but it also has involved a TONNE of research, sourcing obscure games and playing shit nobody has ever heard of before. But it's been SUPER fun! I'm finally starting to work on a script now which might take me a bit longer than usual. Writer's block/lack of confidence is one of those things I need to get over every time I come around to that productive phase of the cycle again, so I'm hoping for a mid-June release!

It will definitely be a longer video, aiming for around 45 minute mark but if it exceeds an our then so be it, as I'd much rather be thorough of course. What has been so freeing about the project is that rather than the dreary and repetitive nature of your traditional game review where I've only got one thing to focus on, any time I can cover multiple games in a single broarder video makes the process better for me and usually results in better quality content if you ask me. I think that's why Every Level Ranked works so well as you get some variety visually and thematically, which this video is also aiming to acheive. And yeah like I said, now that I'm at the point of writing, my brain feels more switched on and focussed on that even when I'm not trying to work.

Future plans) Honestly it's hard to say until I can get my life/work balance back into some consistency again. But look for what it's worth, teaching myself to care less about analytics and all that annoying YouTube stuff is doing wonders for my day to day. As much as I'd like to be a machine that can pump out regular stuff on the things I wanna talk about, remember I'm just a little fella. At this point I'm of the mindset that anything else close to that, I would need to start putting Patreon funds (and ad revenue) into additional help which for the size of the channel just isn't super realistic... however I'm not opposed to the idea.

Brain is just stretched too thin right now, like I can spend a week focussed on a potential other channel with zero interest in what I already do and then it just flops back. Othertimes I'm looking into opportunities outside of YouTube (or at least gaming) and then the switch just goes off unexpectedly. But look just know I always do my best at any given time and my aim is always to do stuff I think you guys will like to see! That being said, content wise my brain is HERE right now:

And if the format of this video I'm working on goes over well, I'd honestly love to do more stuff on broarder topics as it also opens the door to handing some work off to other people if needed and collaborating. Even just some old school Top 10's and shit ya know, I still enjoy doing reviews but some variety is nice for sure!

----------------------------------

Closing Thoughts) SO yeah I know that's a big info dump but that's where I'm at with everything, feel free to ask questions. Will always do my best to answer!

Cheers guys, keep well and have a great fucking day. Thanks for the ongoing support!

Your mental health is priority, I know exactly how you feel. I live in the UK so won't be able to make it to Comic Con. Hope you enjoy it anyway! Any big plans for turning 30 next year?
