Comments

ngl, I have heard Liu before and been unconvinced by the invention of the PMC into a Marxist schema, but this time I thought of it as the lumpen-bourgeoisie and then it becomes a sort of reinterpretation of C Wright Mills’ White Collar, as well as in the tradition of applying lumpen-bourgeoisie in an imperialist setting

Catherine Liu is such an entertaining guest. She let's it all out and gives no fucks. Glad you had her on.

The follow-up is also fantastic: The Causes of World War III

It (The Power Elite) is (essential reading)!

Anton Furgeson

That’s a great point. I gotta get the Power Elite. Seems like essential reading

Hey, thanks! I tried to write some thing suitable for the subject. And Mills was so on point: people do shape themselves to the standards set by those who determine who shall succeed in these fields. This makes the PMC victim and victimizer in this regard...

Aaron Good

Such a great episode. Especially loved the postscript.

dogsbeout

Thanks, and I imagine that they will both be back on at some point. In particular, I have a plan for an episode with Catherine and another guest to talk about 1619 and Kendi...

Aaron Good

No, What are their good albums?

Aaron Good

Well, we're inclusive here, it seems! You need need to work your way over to S&C; we need a mole there.

Aaron Good

Would enjoy hearing more from both Catharine and Dan btw! Listening a second time to absorb a bit more - your guest selection is top drawer πŸ’₯

John McElroy

Mock Orange rips. Aaron have you ever heard Faraquet and/or Medications?

Fantastic conversation Aaron πŸ‘πŸΌ Loved the insights and felt connected to each of Catharine and Dan - especially their current takes on last stage empire. Also enjoyed your point about 1968, being an important year - it’s led me to a small project to work on as I continue to enjoy this American exception project πŸ‘πŸΌ

I would rather hoard money than virtue. But that’s why I’m a Wall Street lawyer who doesn’t work for Sullivan and Cromwell
