Episode 38: Settling the Dust w/James DiEugenio

James DiEugenio joins us again to follow up on issues raised in Episode 34--our JFK Assassination debate featuring Jim and Robert Buzzanco. James DiEugenio is the screenwriter and co-creator of Oliver Stone’s JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass as well as JFK: Destiny Betrayed—the four-hour cut of the film which is now available for digital purchase. Jim is the author of Destiny Betrayed: JFK, Cuba, and the Garrison Case as well as The JFK Assassination: The Evidence Today. He also runs the fantastic Kennedys and King website.

Comments

Aaron, have you all talked at all about Bevin’s book in detail. I’ve heard a couple of comments about it and just wondered about you alls take on it. Read it, learned some stuff so was curious to hear more. Have you done a limited hang out series?

Anthony Zaragoza

The debate was on JFK's foreign policy as a motive for the assassination. Jim has written about the wiretap issue in a few places like this: https://consortiumnews.com/2021/03/05/mlk-fred-hampton-versus-j-edgar-hoover/

Aaron Good

I didn’t hear anything on the Kennedy administration wiretapping of Martin Luther King.

Walter Murph

I guess people are aware of this...but just in case FBI Agent while watching Marchetti states: '....The zapruder film was shown in Auditorium, and it was highly convincing. the sequence that included the moment of assasination left no doubt in the minds of viewesr that the bullets that killed PK came from two directtions..'

Jim is a walking archive. I don’t know what moves someone to debate him besides pure arrogance while obviously not knowing the basic chronology, let alone the historiography which Jim can just rattle off at will. Don’t think Jim will get any answers from his more high profile earlier callouts after mopping buzzanco like this though

Lol buzzanco obsesses over documents but not the ARRB documents

It's all Greek to me. I am trying to learn these characters. My ears pricked up at 'JFK didn't like Rockefeller' and 'Rockefeller had a line to Johnson.' That sounds like a huge clue to me. It makes me give more creedence to Sherman Skolnick's grapevine hearsay about a follow-up conversation between Ted Kennedy and George HW Bush.

Jon Croteau

That guy sounds like a real piece of work

Brendan Garcia

Lol really? Buzzanco edited his copy of it and posted that audio? Beta move.
