Oh and what’s up with Lisa Pease - seems like the CIA movie fawning (Top Gun 27) criticism has leaked into the “good” things the Democratic Party has done. Bizarre for her to fall on her sword on this one?

2022-06-28 22:11:06 +0000 UTCA few years back the Intercept published an article about a Christian NGO used by the Pentagon to spy on North Korea. I know this isn’t the first or last time they’ve done this, but I’d be curious if you know of any books or reports that study this phenomenon in depth. Anything about charities, NGOs, or religious organizations used as cover for intelligence operations would be great to read or learn more about. Thanks!

2022-06-28 21:02:59 +0000 UTCWondered what you thought about Stephanie Kelton’s post about inflation in response to Fed Chief Powell’s congressional Testimony (stephaniekelton.substack.com/p/inflation ) Transitory inflation to out of control runaway inflation requiring massive interest rate increases - and its Jabba the Hut Larry Summers pontificating on the causes. As Dr Hudson reminds us, this kind of “depression” could last a long time in an attempt to put pressure on Asian economies - how might we reframe inflation to both be more accurate and address the shambles of our empire?

2022-06-27 20:46:29 +0000 UTCTl;dr: if the chemical attacks in Damascus were a false flag designed to violate the “red line” and force Obama to invade or otherwise heavily escalate regime change in Syria, what do we make of the fact he didn’t?
Patrick
2022-06-27 16:23:07 +0000 UTCI have a question about Syria, which is a topic I don’t know too much about (appreciated your interview with Kit Klarenberg on this). My question is what we should make of Obama’s “Red Line” doctrine, and his ultimate decision not to commit to mass ground troops or a regime change operation, despite that line being “crossed.” If the chemical attack was a false flag designed to make it look like Assad crossed said line, should we consider Obama’s refusal to send in the troops as a repudiation of the deep state? Is it simply that he and the military/intelligence decided in the wake of Iraq it was better to continue with proxies, or fear of escalating to war with Russia? Was the goal of the chemical attack to force Obama into an uncomfortable position where he’d have to make a decision?

2022-06-27 16:21:43 +0000 UTCCan't wait to read Jefferson Morley's new book. I listened to both this interview and Chapo's, and I was kind of surprised Morley didn't discuss Howard Hunt's wife Dorothy's fatal plane crash during Watergate, which is an extremely weird part of that scandal and featured heavily in The Yankee and Cowboy War by Carl Oglesby.

2022-06-26 05:19:07 +0000 UTCThis is from left field, but any interest in the meaning of the Patty Hearst kidnapping? I worked with her father, who was one of the nicest, least assuming men I've ever known. To quote Randy Hearst: "I spent the first half of my life as William Randolph Hearst's son, and the second half as Patty Hearst's father." He was never clear about it, but he did suggest he wound up as a front man for something way beyond his daughter. Mae Brussel did some very good work on this: http://www.maebrussell.com/Mae%20Brussell%20Articles/Why%20Was%20Hearst%20Kidnapped%201.html Intended on not, the domestic security forces did use her and the kidnapping to root out what was left of 1960s anti-capitalist movements.

2022-06-26 00:48:11 +0000 UTCIdk exactly what to make of this to be honest. I don;t think that the most wealthy and powerful people in the US really care about abortion, but the whole issue is very useful for the deep state as a whole in that it generates political controversy and passion around an issue that really doesn't impact the oligarchs whichever way the laws go... I'll try to say more on Wednesday!

2022-06-25 01:29:50 +0000 UTCKind of confused trying to reconcile the decisive victory of the Leonard Leo/Federalist supreme court strategy today and the ultimate aims of empire. Perhaps I am just underestimating the fundamentalist Christian takeover that has already occurred in the military and intelligence services.

2022-06-23 16:29:10 +0000 UTCHow do you make sense out of “conspiracy”, thematically, as a media commodity these days? Podcasts alone are a large industry, and several big platforms are trying to create content around it. How do you navigate between stimulating entertainment and political education as you approach these topics? Also have you come across any of Gabriel Rockhill’s work on the parapolitics behind French critical theory?

2022-06-22 22:31:50 +0000 UTCI have a question for the end relating to your recent interview with Kit Klarenberg (only if you’ve got time after other questions!) I thought it was interesting the point you made about Alex Jones being censored, that regardless of what you think of Jones it’s almost irrelevant because censorship sets a bad precedent. In my opinion the pandemic has lead to these powers of censorship being extended. Many are happy with what they see as “medical misinformation” being censored, but these new censorship powers have been instantly used against anti imperialist journalists with regards to Russia Ukraine, attacks on their sources of finances, smears, kicked off platforms. It seems that the same way 9/11 attacks lead to the US empire having a perfect pretence for invasions and military spending to combat terrorism, the pandemic has lead to a era where information control and censorship has become justified and normalised. This leads me to some grim conclusions overall about independent journalism in the future… do you think there’s a chance that looking back in 20 years time that we could remember this period as a relatively short golden age of internet freedom that might quickly descend back into a dark age? I am reminded of the frog in the pot of water who doesn’t realise he’s being cooked..

2022-06-22 21:08:39 +0000 UTCGreat question. Seems almost too much of a coincidence that the rise of new opioid drugs occurred at the same time as afghan opium production was resurrected.. especially as so many who get hooked on opioids end up turning to illicit heroin once their legal prescriptions run out.

2022-06-22 20:44:50 +0000 UTCWhat is the relation, if any, between the US occupation of Afghanistan and the opioid epidemic in the US. I ask this because the vast majority of opioids sold in the US is over the counter medication from BIG Pharma. Does Big Pharma source its opium from Afghanistan? Or is it strictly the illicit [heroin] drug markets that Afghanistan supplies?
