iOS devices NEW subscription will cost more starting November 2024

Another FYI for new patrons subscribing via an iOS device.
Starting in November 2024, Patreon will be forced to switch to the Apple in-app purchase system, instead of using the Patreon system. Meaning that new patron pledges that will be paid via an Apple iOS device will have to cover the Apple in-app purchase fee, which represents a substantial 30% fee on every transaction.
So, either the creator absorbs the fee (with a net loss of 30%), or the price needs to be adjusted on iOS subscriptions accordingly so that the creator will continue to earn the same amount for the same pledge: meaning that the pledge price will be boosted to $14.50 on iOS devices instead of the usual $10. As of now, the second option will apply to the FSM page.
But not all is lost, a few key items to note and remember here:
1. Existing members won’t be impacted: this will affect only NEW members who complete the subscription purchase via an iOS device starting in November 2024
2. Web (via computers) and Android devices subscriptions are NOT impacted by this
3. If you have access to multiple types of devices, I STRONGLY recommend that you subscribe via your PC or Android device, instead of your iOS device, to save a few $ each month
