Exactly I don’t fault him one bit for having a murderous look in his eyes he just watched cloaked mad men horrifically slaughter the village and Rem. Anyone would be like that in his situation and yes the candidates all have their own twisted form of self righteousness that’s kinda annoying and he’s doing all he can to try to get help. Feel so bad for him

I LOOOVE the choice to not show his eyes until that one point, the direction in this show is so great

Be nice to Geuse :(
A lot of times Subaru gets is treated almost like a video game character by people who discuss or watch the show, like he can just reload the save if something goes wrong. But those things still existed to Subaru from his past lives, he still lost all those people, and is not sure how his power works, he isn't sure if there is a next time. Everything happens in one stream, there isn't down-time between death and restart. One moment the most horrible thing he has ever seen in his life happens, the next he has to go try and get help to make sure it doesn't happen again. He is penniless, lacks skills, basic knowledge of this world, and has not fighting prowess. He has nothing to offer these candidates other than his pride and trying to appeal to their sense of righteousness. To top that all off, he can't even explain how or why he knows things. Character regression was brought up, but he isn't really regressing, he is progressing down a bad path, not retreading a path he has already walked. This arc does a tremendous job showcasing just how much of a crucible Subaru is in, and what the cost of his power really is. Not just physical pain, but severe emotional and mental trauma that no one else can ever understand and you won't be able to explain. Brutal.
