To add further, Aragorn and the people of Gondor and Minas Tirith (Denethor, Boromir, and Faramir etc.) are descendants of the Numenoreans. They're the better-than-normal men because they have elvish blood.

A little Lore to answer your question about Morgoth. According to the Ainulindale (Tolkien's creation myth) and the Valaquenta (Tolkien's description of the Valor), Melkor/Morgoth is one of the Ainur (Holy Ones), which Tolkien describes as being the offspring of Eru Iluvatar's (Tolkien's creator god) thought. During the Music of the Ainur through which Eru brings about the creation of the universe and predestines its history, Melkor intentionally sows discord and dissidence. He engages in this rebellious act out of a jealousy of Eru's monopoly on the creation of life. Though Eru admonishes Melkor for his rebellion, Eru tells Melkor his portion of the music will remain a part of Eru's creation as a demonstration of Melkor's inability to thwart Eru's divine will. Melkor is also one of the fifteen Ainur who chose to descend to Arda (Tolkien's Earth) to serve as both Arda's shapers and guardians. These fifteen Ainur become known as the Valar and make their home on the continent of Valinor. But when the Valor choose Melkor's brother Manwe as their King, Melkor again rebels and sets out to destroy all the Valor attempt to do in Arda. The events of the Ainulindale (Pronounced Eye-nu-lin-da-lay), the Valaquenta, Quenta Silmarillion (the story of the Elves during the First Age of Arda), and the Akallabeth (the Fall of Numenor, the end of the Second Age of Arda) can all be found in The Silmarillion, which was edited by Tolkien's third son and literary executor, Christopher Tolkien. To add perspective, the events of the Amazon show take place during the Second Age (the age about which Tolkien actually wrote the least) or after the defeat of Melkor by the Valor, Elves and the men who become the Numenoreans and the first rise of Sauron.
