Enjoyed your reaction, just like with all the ones I've seen so far. This fiim had some of the best actors of its time. Henry Fonda, who played the lone holdout is cinematic royalty, almost always playing the moral center of every film. Lee J Cobb, the last holdout, was a brilliant character actor, never the leading man but always one of the most compelling, powerful characters in any movie. The others were familiar faces in film and TV. Jack Klugman, the guy who lived in the slums and was familiar with switchblades, was TV star in the 70s in The Odd Couple and Quincy ME. You guys are awesome, that's why I became a subscriber 💯

There are so many great movies that were released before 1960, unfortunately a lot of them are being forgotten today because they were filmed in black and white. Now that you are willing to try the older films a go may i recommend ‘To kill a mocking bird’ with Gregory Peck, perhaps one of the best films ever made. I could recommend so many great from the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s, but it would take me all night to type them out. It’s a shame that these films are becoming lost to time. Hopefully reactions such as you two will keep the films alive.

This movie took a weird path to the screen. In the 1950s there was a tv show that did a one hour play live on tv every week. They would take scripts from aspiring playwrights in NY. This guy had sold one script to them which they produced and then he thought of this after sitting through an 8 hour deliberation on a murder case, though not a death penalty one. The episode got great reviews but their wasn't reruns back then so he expanded the story to 90 minutes and put it on Broadway until a young filmmaker decided to make it a movie. The director of this movie went on to be a top Hollywood director in the 60s and 70s. The writer wrote another play called the Defenders for the tv show and it starred some of the cast from this movie. That episode became a popular tv show. I believe in one version of this the defendant is said to be Hispanic. This takes place the same time as West Side Story where anti Hispanic feelings were common in New York so yeah the old guy was racist. The other old guy you liked so much was 74 when this was shot and died 5 years later. From this role he got a lot of guest spots on shows as a judge. The younger nerdy guy you may not have seen in anything, but you have heard his voice. He voiced Piglet in Winnie the Pooh cartoons for over 40 years as well as other Disney characters. I’m glad you liked the movie so much. We’ll have to try and break the record for oldest movie. This movie proves you can do a lot with a little with good actors and a good script.
