Been going to fry's off and on for decades. The overall selection really appeals to me. There is a large variation in the store sizes and so how much they can stock. They have several stores in the bay area, so possibly their strategy is less about the store and sales and more about how much the acres of super-prime real estate will be worth when they decide to cash out. It could be in the hundreds of millions. They bought outpost.com to be their internet storefront several years ago, but i don't think that went anywhere and now it just redirects to frys.com. Went there with the family a couple months ago and we all kind of said it just feels like they are stuck in 1998. Anyway, i reallly have affection for fry's and i hope they find maybe a slightly newer formula for success.

2019-01-14 16:25:05 +0000 UTCWe still have a Fry's in Austin. It has changed over the years and on my recent visit, you could tell it wasn't what it used to be. They had a section selling cheap novelty gifts. They had an empty cafe and the store was sparse. I know people still go for specialized computer equipment. Incredible Universe didn't last long if I recall. I never was in one, but a vacant shell of one was sitting in McAllen Texas for the longest time.
