R5(Abbreviation for 令和5年）means the fifth year of the current Emperor's reign in the Japanese era.
■今日は新しいカーテンを買ってきまして、作業場兼自宅の窓を全て新しいカーテンに取り替えました。一番強力な遮光能力のあるもので、取り付けて早速照明を消してみたところ、これは…皆既日食かな…？ 今まで付けていたカーテンも遮光機能付きだったはずなのですが、私は今日初めて本物の遮光カーテンを知りました。これまでのカーテンはただの布だったな。
遮音能力も強く、昼間でも雪が積もった時のような静けさになり、これは睡眠が…いや、お絵描きが捗りそうです。
■Today I bought new curtains and replaced all the windows in my workshop and home with new curtains. They are the ones with the most powerful shading capability, and as soon as I installed them and turned off the lights, I wondered if this was... a total eclipse...? The curtains I had installed before must have had a light-blocking function, but today was the first time I learned about real light-blocking curtains. The curtains I've had so far were just cloth.
They have a strong sound insulation ability, and even during the daytime they become as quiet as when snow is on the ground, so this is going to help me sleep...or rather, paint.
