Painted Backdrop: Madax Edition
Added 2020-09-11 13:04:39 +0000 UTCI've been eager to make a video on this topic for some time now. It's a tricky one, much more of a Bob Ross style presentation. Using the same techniques we use on miniature to set a deeper scene. I've always enjoyed combining the 3D and 2D art forms to create one superpiece. It is one more tool on our weapon rack. I hope you enjoy this video, it's more of a sit back and absorb approach. Please let me know what you think in the comments.
This also completes this Model and brings the excitement of beginning a new project. I have two piece I plan to work on and go deep into advanced territory as we march onward. Have a great weekend me friends!

So, I've been desperately seeking inspiration and motivation and you have come through for me! You may not see this comment, as it's waaay later (since you made the video), but I really want to paint up a backdrop (Bob Ross style) for my Chainbreaker entry. I find painting on a two dimensional surface (with no lines/3D objects to stay within) EXTREMELY intimidating. I have an idea for what I want the finished product to be (and I've been watching a lot of Bob Ross videos...so relaxing), but transferring what's in my head to the canvas is difficult for me. Once again, you have provided me with inspiration, motivation and courage to just dive in. Thanks man! I appreciate this more than you can know, or I can express!
2020-12-02 18:33:34 +0000 UTCSorry for the late reply...now that I have time I am getting caught up on the vids. Love the reference to the Master...Frazetta's backgrounds are always great. Some containing detail, others are nothing more than "smears" of color. The all work as they highlight the foreground and transport to that "other worldly" place. Your backgrounds carry on that tradition. Thanks for the tutorial!
