CHAINBREAKER 2020

Greetings! I am happy to formally announce our first painting competition, the CHAINBREAKER. Before we get to the rules, I want to address some things about the spirit of this event. Notice I'm immediately distancing myself from the word competition, heh. I hope for this to be a healthy contest. Let's not forget the rule of cool is that fun is number one, so let's be cool and have fun.

The contest will change as we go, it's the first draft and I'm thankful to Greg (Turkeygerky) as well as our fine judges, Neil (Impending Duff), and Dani (Eenie Minis) for their contributions. It's an honor to have them aboard and I am grateful for their time. Hip hip!

But what I mean on the contest changing as we go. I like the phrase 'building the ship as we sail it', it's important to move forward and learn, even though it won't be perfect. It's our goal to make this as fun as possible and the main goal is engagement. To get people painting and provide that extra little incentive that wouldn't exist outside of this..Contest.

We have kept things simple as you will see from the guidelines for the competition. My idea though, is to increase the prizes and maybe even categories as the volume of entries goes up. EVERYONE WILL GET A PRIZE. It's not much but at the minimum I am going to be making certificates denoting your place in the contest as well as all runners up (everyone). You came, you painted, you have piece of paper proving it! I'll also include some stickers and whatever else may come up as this progresses.

Personally I have entered many competitions and no one or ever enters in order to lose. Remember that each person's piece is as important to them as yours is to you. We may be a little blinded by our focus and ambition, if you have feelings about your entry, you are an artist ;) There is no shame in failure, only in quitting. We can't all win, but as Uncle Atom once said, "Your loss is someone else's win". Let's have fun!

Drumroll please~~~

COMPETITION CHAIN BREAKER 2020

Are you ready Muscle Warriors?! Starting in November, Sam's Patreon will be holding a painting competition here on discord. This competition will run from November to January 20th and on January 31st Winners will be announced.

There are 3 Categories: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Each level of the competition will have prizes for 1st Place and runner up! More on the exact prizes soon. Winners will also get a special TAG in Discord to wear proudly! All winners will get written feedback on their entry as well from our judges.

Pick a model and tell a story with that model, the judges can see the best paint job but if it doesn't have a story or take them on a Journey it could still loose. The Base must also be custom, one that you built from scratch! So, let’s see what the unchained army comes up with, I'm excited to see the submissions!

Judges for this competition are Impending Duff, EenieMini's and Sam Lenz. So, make sure to shoot them a thank you for taking the time out of their day to help the competition.

Rules:

1. Single Unpainted Model – No Busts. I don’t care what size the model is. 32mm 50mm whatever inspires you. I don’t want to make this overly complicated I just want you guys to have fun.

2. Custom Base/small diorama/Plinth – whatever inspires you!

3. All entries must be in. If you’ve ordered a miniature and it isn’t in by the 17th of November go ahead and send me a proof of purchase and the category you are entering by the 17th. Mail sucks I know it does right now.

4. Do not share Progress in the main discord or social media – Each participant gets to join a secret channel, you can choose if you want to post there, or not. This channel is here for you guys to push each other!

5. Take a Piece of paper and write the Date and category on it and snap a picture of it and your entry.

6. Try to not enter below your level. Its hard to judge sometimes but do your best. There are some guidelines you can kind of follow. Beginner might be you’ve only been painting for a year regularly, intermediate means you got some time in it and you got a good foundation and maybe have joined in a couple competition. Advanced means you’ve been at this awhile, this isn’t your first competition you’ve entered in several before.

7. Entries are to be sent via Direct Message to me (Turkeygerky) directly.

8. Must be subscribed to the Patreon for the entirety of the competition in order to win.

9. Prizes will be announced after all submissions are in.

10. If we do not get enough entries, I may have to collapse a category,

11. If you entered below your skill level the judges may place you somewhere else.

12. Have Fun!

~~Thank you Greg, for that write up! Now let's paint the world!

send the pic of your unpainted model to TurkeyGerky on Discord. In the photo of your entry you need to include the date and which level you're entering, and it needs to be handwritten. I figure we'll all get access to the channel when they've set it up

I looked, but I couldn't find the channel for the competition?

Sorry Sam, I've just picked up your email. I'm easily confused, so bear with me: do we need to post an image of the unpainted model before the 17th on the discord?
