Thoughts on Streaming and stuff
Added 2020-09-15 21:34:35 +0000 UTCSo, lately I've been streaming on Youtube instead of Twitch, and man am I super conflicted right now.
On the one hand: Youtube is where a lot of my existing audience is, and from the backend it is much easier to set things up and get shit ready for a stream ahead of time, or to just let it rip randomly with no prep. BUT, youtube's livestreaming community is... honestly I haven't seen any of it. Pretty sure it doesn't actually exist.
On the other hand: Twitch is much more established as a livestream site, but it's also got 0 integration with Youtube, and very little in the way of easy growth. It's also a lot easier to support creators directly, and the community is monolithic in size.
Honestly, I'm kinda stuck here. I want the streams to do well, and with Twitch's stupid policy against streaming on two platforms simultaneously, I have to pick one. I'm not sure whether to pick the platform that's got a smaller community, but a bigger established audience (youtube) or the bigger community that's practically totally disconnected from that audience. (Twitch)
If any of you have thoughts on which is better, or if you've seen my streams and have a preferred platform, feel free to chime in. I just wanted to vent my thoughts into the aether.
