Anime on the Channel
Added 2023-02-14 00:37:05 +0000 UTCThis isn't an announcement of "No more anime ever >:O" but I kinda just wanna get my thoughts in order.
In short: I feel like I'm just doing anime content as an obligation now, more than anything. More than once I've caught myself going "Wow I fucking hate this show why am I watching it" and the answer was "because I've got nothing to replace it with for the channel". Right now we have some shows I like, (Trigun, Bofuri, Nagatoro, etc) but the more I look ahead the more it feels like I'm doing things because they "have to be done" and I fucking hate that mentality.
Honestly, I really want to do more TTRPG content and stream content, but the motivation is getting drained by "I NEED to do THIS content"
I think, going forward, if there's not a show I want to watch, I'm not going to scramble to fill the slot. If there's only one show I wanna watch that season, then that's the one I'll watch. If there's 10, then I guess I'm watching 10. I know a lot of you are probably here for anime, but I do produce a lot of other content too. If we hit a point where there's no shows I want to watch in a season (not that this season is that!) then I hope y'all will stick around for the streaming content and upcoming TTRPG stuff!
Love y'all

I'm getting a little burned out in general. Going back to old shows is well and good, but playing the algorithm does require watching at least a few 'new' shows each season. In addition, I'm having a lot more fun just... being a streamer? I'll be honest, if it wasn't for the fact that I can record them live, I might have already stopped. For now, I'm going to focus on hitting that point of "This is as many shows as I want to watch at once :)" and then going from there. Watching 7 shows a week and giving big ass analyses right off the top of my head made it hard to actually keep track and be invested.
2023-02-24 08:30:40 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if i understand correctly. Is it that you're getting burned out by anime in general or specifically that you're watching shows that you don't wanna watch? Cause there's always older shows that you could look at, some of which are on the patreon list already. I think the 4 episode minimum is still probably a good thing to keep but you should still feel comfortable quitting a show you do not enjoy. If it gets to the point where looking for new shows becomes stressful as well i understand though and you can take breaks from it if you start to feel that way. But looking for some old gems like Maria is in all likelyhood the way to go imo.
2023-02-15 22:18:01 +0000 UTCI personally highly recommend The eminence in shadow if you haven’t already given it a try. Describing it would do it a disservice because the only way I can do so and do it justice makes it look bad but trust me when I say this. The author knows what makes a bad isekai fantasy and says imma do that, but imma make it fun. Not good. Fun. There is nothing special about the series when you describe what kinds of things happen you just think isekai power fantasy with a twist:gimmick. And it’s true but also completely wrong. The author makes absolutely certain you know what characters and what arcs fall into what troupes but plays it up to such a comedic extent that I won’t say it’s JoJo’s level but it gives that feeling of if I explain what is actually happening to someone who knows absolutely nothing about the show to try and say it’s a good show they will look at me like I’m a crazy person. It’s one of those things that you just kinda need to go into with an open mind and zero expectations not because it’s bad but because it will be very different from those expectations and you shouldn’t allow preconceived bias to cloud your opinion. It’s a perfect balance of absurdist humor and a dark and serious political intrigue that it becomes a perfect storm of “bad tropes” and somehow turns into a comedic masterpiece with a serious plot.
