Edge of Alacrity (Rerelease)

Hello everyone!

It's time for our next backlog rerelease that is being generously funded by our awesome patrons. This week, we're rereleasing a stunning polearm with the Edge of Alacrity. This halberd made a speedy impact when we first released it and I'm very excited to see it in the new formats!

A look back from Matthew:

I originally developed this one for my home game. When AB was first starting and we were creating items, I didn't know how much time to dedicate to it really. Consequently, our first items were mostly things that I could use for my own campaigns. It just made good sense to at least have some usage for it immediately if the items didn't go well publicly.

This was crafted for one of my players that uses a polearm on their character and often needs to quickly move to their friends to support them. He's the party cleric and they rely on him to get around quickly.

I wanted to theme it around speed and I thought the juxtaposition of a polearm which can be rather slow and laborious, granting speed and precision seemed like a good fit. I really love developing with reactions for this kind of thing so I knew I needed to get that in early.

The charge ability is something I love dearly, that first rush into combat can provide such a pivotal moment and sets off a lot of interesting clashes from that point on.

It's fun looking back on this now when I didn't know how much AB would grow. Now, pretty much everything we make is specifically for release. It's fun to see what I was making when it was still partially just for me!

We're so excited to continue working through our backlog of items. There's so many good trips down memory lane to come and I really want to share all of those with you. I often remember a lot more about the item when I get to write these posts so it's amazing to me to revisit them.
