SUNRIDER: LIBERATION DAY AT TOKYO GAME SHOW

Our publisher has come to Japan and set up a booth at Tokyo Game Show filled with waifus from Sunrider: Liberation Day and other English VNs.

Even though the exhibit hall was hot as a sauna, our waifus held strong and neither fell or bent as throngs of bypassers visited… And thankfully it doesn’t seem like we had any human casualties either. Although my feet did hurt a lot and I got drenched with sweat. Hah. Hah.

A round of applause goes to the brave men of Sekai Project who weathered such conditions for days to guard the waifus… I never knew how hot it was inside TGS until I got there.

And now some juicy stuff for the folks back home.

We’re excited to finally reveal we are producing Sunrider: Liberation Day simultaneously in both in English and in Japanese.

Sunrider: Liberation Day will feature full Japanese voice acting for every single line in the game and dual English and Japanese text.

Is Sunrider: Liberation Day being localized into Japanese?

We’re actually making it in English and Japanese at the same time, so we’re building it with the assumption that both the English and Japanese assets will work together to create a single experience for English readers.

Is Sekai Project handling the Japanese translation.

The translation and Japanese voice acting will be done by Love in Space contractors. Sekai Project is the publisher of Sunrider: Liberation Day but has no active role in development.

Can I swap the voice acting between Japanese and English

Sunrider: Liberation Day will only have Japanese voice acting, so you can’t swap to an English voice track.

Which seiyuu will be cast for my waifu

We’re actually still working on the cast list. But because we’re pulling talent from the Japanese eroge industry, we will not be revealing the real identities of any of the seiyuu anyways. (Everyone works under an alias for 18+ games.)

What’s going to be voiced

Every line of dialogue in the VN segments, excluding Kayto, as well as all the unit acknowledgments during the battle segments.

Can you please tell us when the game will be out, etc

Eh trust me, we’d like the game to be out too. But I don’t think it’ll be a very good game if we just release things half baked… We’ll have a release date for Liberation Day further down the line. It’s still only been a few months since Sunrider Academy came out, and we can’t make these games in a flash…

I personally enjoyed the voice acting of the first game, so I'd like to see those voice actors come back for an english dub, but I don't mind it being in Japanese since I'm learning anyway. It will be weird to listen to totally different voices for the characters though so I would like for one of the milestones to be english dub.

I don't think there should be an english dub. VNs are japanese "games". In my opinion it's like an good anime - watch it in japanese dub with an english - or in my case a german dub. That's whats it should be and what is most fun. There are some animes wich have an english or german dub but most of them are crap. In most cases the translation is poor or censored and the voice actor don't fit the character. In japanese original it's more authentic. I prefer this authentic feeling also for VNs. I don't might an english sub but its more fun when there is an japanese dub! VNs are like animated mangas in an special way so i think japanese voice acting is something wich makes it more authentic. And on the other hand: why are u not happy there IS an dub anyway the pipe dream isn't reached? There is such an awsome anouncement an most of u guys are crying for an english dub... That's makes waifus cry... :X

In regards to the English voice acting, there's plenty of reasons why it's a bad idea, but that's moot anyways because there's no way an Eng dub would ever be made in time for the release even if we wanted it and had the money.

Love in Space

i prefer Japanese dub with English subtitles. it feels more natural and is the way the game should be presented. English dubs are usually really bad and done with so much cheese it cheapens the experience. I'm saying this as someone who had read over 150+ visual novels, its just my opinion at the end of the day I guess.

I agree that there should be an English dub since most of us don't know Japanese, but I also like the idea of making it anime like with the Japanese.... pretty much i am torn on the topic. XP

"What’s going to be voiced Every line of dialogue in the VN segments, excluding Kayto, as well as all the unit acknowledgments during the battle segments." Personally, I liked the English version of the unit acknowledgments during the battle segments. Why? It's because I don't know a lick of Japanese and while I'm VERY happy that we're going to have a fully voiced (minus MC) cast, I still want to hear and understand what our favourites are going to say. I'm not going to know that Ms. Pervert downloaded their entire porn collection if she says it in Japanese. I'm not gonna know our justice loving hero is saying 'Imma firing mai lazor!' either. If we can get an option to either keep the English voice pack (or have the seiyuus do a few English lines) or go with the Japanese voices for battle segments, I'd very much appreciate it! Either way, I'm looking forward to Liberating Cera- I mean Liberation Day!

Agree on changing the 10000 mile stone goal to English dub. I think it will attract most people that way.

Eric Tsai

Even though we are a minority, it's important to say that we're here! I'd like English dubs as well, although I'm not sad to see Japanese dub being released so far away from the milestone. To be honest, I thought they'd do it the other way around - coming with a high quality English dub at this point to show people what they could do if the $10,000 goal was reached.

Jorge Ricardo Teixeira de Queiroz de Freitas

Great news! I wish I could've attended the event though... However, I must ask you to reconsider not vocalizing Kayto. It doesn't have to be everything, just his most famous line - Vanguards, Fire! I'll surely miss it from Mask of Arcadius, and I don't think just copying the old English voice into the new game will fit well. Maybe the other Command Orders - Full Forward, All Guard, etc - could be voiced too if it does require more than one line for you to close a contract? In any case, thanks a lot for the Japanese Dub, even though we're so far away from the milestone! Looking forward to it, and for the next beta release as well :D

Jorge Ricardo Teixeira de Queiroz de Freitas

Awesome to hear that the game will be getting full Japanese voice-acting though I am a bit saddened to hear there will be no English voice acting to go along with it, though I understand how expensive that can obviously be. Since the full voice-over was the $10,000 milestone goal however, is there any chance we might see that get revised? Either to providing an English dub as well or some other bonuses to the game?

Nomad48

and super important thing: "Sunrider Academy" have completed story line. many japanese like those game.

Arkblade

congratulation! btw, "Sunrider Academy" have any plans of become into the japanese ? liberation day is first gaems sequel. it's opinion of one of the Japanese, Japanese is not much to touch sequel first... and Sadly MoA itself will lack the impact to interest to people. so "Sunrider Academy" is very suitable for tell the attractive of Love in Space games.

Arkblade

Yeah doing a full voice over in English too would be too expensive. But Id be happy just to have the option for the English voice overs in the battle segments like we did in FA & MoA.

Sasha M.

I'd imagine doing both a Japanese and English dub would be prohibitively expensive. I am just hoping Sunrider gains even more popularity with this new localization.

Zsar

Are we though? I'd like it too.

Troopage

It has been amazing to watch Sunrider go from a small ren'py kickstarted game to full blown Japanese Visual Novel. I am curious, how do you plan on summarizing the First Arrival / Mask of Arcadius material for your newly gained Japanese audience?

Zsar

I agree with you but we're definitely in the minority

Sasha M.

I'm disappointed to hear there's no English voice acting...am I alone in being a fan of these games that doesn't speak Japanese? Hopefully at least for any Japanese lines that might not get a dub (unit acknowledgements) some kind soul will translate them on the forums...

MontagoHalcyon

Did you plan to go in an expo in France (like the Japan Expo) ?

Zirk

"It’s still only been a few months since Sunrider Academy came out, and we can’t make these games in a flash…" Maybe you should ask Winged Cloud for help. Them seem to have no trouble releasing a game every month... Oh wait... you want a GOOD game... (ba dum ch) Heh... Excited for the full voice acting (even though we didn't hit the pipe dream, HOW DARE YOU REWARD US!) but kind of sad that we will never see Kayto's insanely white guy voice that just barely fits him... But I'm glad that you're not voicing Kayto... Remember back when I thought this would come out around July? Heh... I was dead wrong, and am glad. It seems as though you are actively trying to make a good game... like... ACTUALLY TRYING... Quality over Quantity right? *looks across room at Winged Cloud*

Crow

Thats great news! A complete japanese synch over LibDay! But what happens to the Patron "Pipe Dream" now? :D Anyway - i can't wait to hear Ava lecturing me and Claude saying naughty things <3 ;P
