You know, this was originally an October release for spooky month, but I have to say I think it's just a strong design for any time of year. The fact that there's no specific "scythe" weapon in 5E didn't stop us from putting together an amazing one.

A look back from Matthew:

Okay, so I've wanted to put together a scythe in 5E for quite awhile, but figuring out how to state something like that is a bit unique. I realized that there's no two handed finesse weapons in the base game. Maybe that's by design, but I don't think that just because something require two hands that it inherently makes it strength based. There's flow to be found in certain types of larger weaponry and a scythe seemed like the right place for it.

The chance for this item to actual do its keystone ability of an instant kill is extremely low, but I know the way dice are sometimes. In one of my own campaigns, it would absolutely happen at a huge moment or against a big bad. I kind of love the randomness of it and the possibility it could happen, be it extremely remote.

The core abilities aren't anything bad either, they get the job done and will help you deal consistent damage at a pretty high level. Overall, this weapon is something that I really enjoyed crafting and I'm happy it's in our new formats.
