Holier Than Thou Water

Greetings adventurers!

There are those in the highest levels of the clergy that really get a bit of an ego about themselves. You see them strutting around in their gleaming platemail or stately robes, rubbing elbows with the social elite. I feel as though they might have lost touch with the point of the whole thing, but that’s not for me to judge. They’ve found their newest divine toy though, and I’d be a liar if I said I hadn’t wanted to get my hands on some to give it a try. Well as luck would have it, one of my contacts was able to obtain such a bottle. There’s no official name for it yet, so I’m just giving it one of my own smarmy accord.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

Holy water is a cool idea. I think it’s fun to limit damage to specific circumstances, but reward those that are prepared in knowing what they’re going to face. I often reward that type of “plan ahead” behavior in my games and like to see others really considering what they might face before heading into battle with just their bare kit. We had been chatting in the Discord about holy water and I made a joke about its smarmier cousin, Holier Than Thou water. It didn’t take long for a patron to suggest that we actually make it and here we are. Just saying, we really do listen to patron suggestions!

On the 5E front, consumables are a bit more of a “controllable” substance as most vendors wouldn’t have something like this sitting on their counter. I wanted to make sure it felt powerful to throw this thing, thus the importance of giving it both damage and healing along with it. I think it also rewards smart play of making sure you use it against the specific monster types that it will be effective against. That said, it can also be used as a heal in a pinch and there’s something nice about offering that option.

In the PF2E version, consumables are a little more easy to obtain depending on what they are. I wanted to make sure to reflect that by giving it some power, but not too much. This meant the healing aspect would be out the window. Most tools in PF2E are built to do the thing they do and not a lot of extra. That’s a different type of design, but one that you need to respect when writing for it. In fact, putting limits on things can make it more interesting in the long run. Example with this, people can recall knowledge to try to figure out if it would be effective on that creature and that creates fun gameplay economics.

I’m all ears when it comes to community suggestions so please take some time to hop into our Discord if you haven’t yet. We have a lovely little community built up there and I would love to see more people become a part of it. Hopefully your new year has been kind to you thus far. I know I’m trying to be productive and that’s exciting at times!

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.

Perfect, that makes sense! Thanks for the clarification 😊

Hey Brad, thanks for the comment. So our Foundry module is updated once a month and is one month behind. So basically our January 2025 update contains all of the items from the start through December 2024. The February update, when posted, will include this item as well.

I saw in the master post that the Foundry module was last updated on Jan 29, but this isn't in it. Did it get missed, or are you behind on updating so Jan 29 was, for instance, December items?
