Elon Musk didn’t invent the hyperloop in the white paper, and indeed his only contributions to it in the white paper doesnt survive contact with reality. This is why all these ideas have been discarded by everyone seriously looking at the hyperloop- its too preposterous… even for them! Everyone has discarded Musks ideas of an air hockey table in a vacuum tube in favor of a maglev. Musk might have insisted that the stuff in his white paper was actually REALLY easy. Reality says otherwise. If you take all the easy to disprove stuff out of the white paper about compressors and vacuum tubes, and all you are left with is a 100 year old idea that never left the drawing board because it was so impractical.
