Not worth a fiver? Good lord. Imagine you presented content on mainstream media - you'd be paid a fortune. People who subscribe to your content do that absolutely believe you are worth it - and less money goes to execs, company owners, and distributers all taking their cut. Direct funding of media creators who do ALL the work of a small studio, scripts, lighting, editing, effects, presentation, vr footage is the way.

Same as Eric really, I never saw it as "I want xyz per pound pledged", I just wanted to support a bloody lovely person so they can do what they love. Impostor syndrome absolutely sucks, there must be so much good stuff which doesn't get made because of it. Don't know if sharing experiences is useful but I get a ton of it; on a good day it'll just be feeling that I'm a fraud for explaining technical topics I don't really understand, go for a bad day and my brain will throw in severe doubt that I can explain anything let alone make it engaging, and my voice is terrible and I really should just replace the narration with Microsoft Movie Maker style captions. I *know* these feelings are false, I have many lovely comments telling me these are false, but it still doesn't stop that old beast from climbing up through the subconscious to go, "you just got lucky, this is the one where they're going to find out". One thing I use quite a bit to force myself into creating is to go and look at the utter shite which people have the brass to monetise; I wouldn't rag on a small channel because everyone has to start somewhere but when you look at some of the soulless, by-the-numbers landfill someone big enough to make partner has the front to stick mid-roll and overlay ads over then it never feels quite so bad putting out a video you've spent a lot of time and effort on and put a lot of yourself into. Er, I'm not entirely sure how healthy that approach is. If nothing else, remember that nobody is forced into subscribing to a particular Patreon tier; we're all here by choice because you're making something we'd like to see made.

I never though about it in terms of objective value for money, but supporting something that has value to many people who may be less able to pay. Still, fair enough I know impostor syndrome can be a bitch.

I am looking forward to watching this after work... I'm currently messing about with Cassette 50. People support you because they believe that you are worthy of support. They have the option of stopping for any number of reasons as well. There is absolutely no obligation to support you.
