The Last of the Kitsune V0.04 D!

Hello all of my kitsunes and regal kitsunes!

Here it is V0.04D!

A few little changes have happened to the core game, nothing particularly noticeable, but the 'Open Plains' and  'Abandoned Gorge' has been added. I lied when I said that there was 20-30 minutes of gameplay... it's actually more like 40 minutes to an hour!

FOR THOSE WITH MONITORS OVER 60hz this update may fix the 'fast speed' bug, but I have no way of identifying that myself, so if some kind soul would let me know it would be appreciated!

START A NEW SAVE AND USE THE 'SHORTCUT' OPTION otherwise variables won't be tracked properly! DON'T USE AN OLD SAVE!

So here we go:

- Windows:

- Linux:

I can't wait to hear about all the bugs in this update... -_-'

Enjoy!

EDIT: The updated guide and patch notes are included in the download!

EDIT 2: For anyone finding it a bit tough, make sure to check the main menu and under the 'Allocate' command allocate stats for the party members, don't forget to do this whenever you level up! You also need to equip your party members and assign them into 'Rows' through the main menu. Moves can be learned in the menu as well under 'Class' and then 'Learn Skill' by spending 'KP' on them. This should make things a great deal easier for you!

EDIT 3: People are having trouble with the rooster and optional boss FOR A GOOD REASON! My 'test run' set the difficulty of the game to 50% automatically, so if you are playing on 'normal' (100% enemy difficulty) there's no way to beat the optional boss! What you'll have to do is go into the main menu and under 'Options' - 'General' set the 'enemy difficulty' to 50%. It's a strange plugin bug that I've never had before, the joys of RPG Maker MV! But this shall fix the game without me having to force you to download another 400MB update. I'll get this fixed properly for v0.04E!

Comments

yeah seems like its a fairly important plot point.

Yuukiw

Yep looks like it works. Though I already got the file from a different version of the game. ;) Thanks for the update though.

DeamonHunter

Either next update or the one after. I may keep doing smaller updates just to keep the content rolling a bit quicker, plus I really want to nail the Ki dungeon!

MassManic

Guess it will be in the next update, whenever that is? ^^

Yuukiw

Shhh! ;)

MassManic

The planned visit to the ki which is as a prototype in the files seems interesting too!

Yuukiw

Alright, thanks DeamonHunter, I'll get on it! I'll fix it for the next patch. Try donwnloading this and dropping it into www/audio/bgm to see if it works: https://mega.nz/file/fnhlhCxD#pdxX7guSdzBWsuVVAVkRntDP5NTDpKj2nUZwzEH9FG0

MassManic

Been replaying the earlier sections. Game crashes during the Yokai event because its trying to find "Peritune - Shizima2 Horror.ogg" but the file seems to have been renamed to "Peritune - Shizima2.ogg" in the files.

DeamonHunter

Thanks for letting me know, never had this issue before! The route to the settings is: 'Main Menu' - 'Options' - 'General' - 'Enemy Difficulty' and scroll it down to 50%. That should do it!

MassManic

Glad to hear it. I was already wondering if i begane to really suck at jrpg games while i play a decent amount of them. Thanks for the clarification.

Rudy Keijnemans

Aha! I've found the issue! There was a plugin hiccup! The test run automatically set the difficulty to 50% difficulty for some reason! So yeah, I can understand why people were getting problems! So, everyone who is reading this; set your combat difficulty to 50% in the 'Settings' in the main menu! Thanks for alerting me to this, it's just a weird weird bug. I was wondering why everyone was complaining about it! :/

MassManic

Yes, all my characters are equipped with the current best available armor/weapons; the problem with random enemies per se isn't their attack strength, that one is ok-ish, it's that they attack twice in a row with strong attacks, if you'd only have them attack only once per turn or set a cooldown on the strongest ability it'd help considerably. Also, while the battles are possible, as-is, they are extremely luck determined since a double attack can wipe out your team if it's not at full health

BrainDamage

Jeah equipped every character with the best equipment for their appropriate role. Also changed the difficulty to 50% which made the enemies much more balanced allround for wat i would consider a normal difficulty run in other jrpg kind of games.

Rudy Keijnemans

Hmm... I shall do some rebalancing then, I didn't have too much trouble in testing, the last time I did it I managed to beat the guardian with four turns left, (granted it was a crit that did it) but I think I only failed the boss once when I was below lvl 20 and it was literally one attack away from being killed. I shall tone down the rooster too for the next update. All I can say for now is to knock the difficulty down to an easier setting for the battles in the menu, it should drastically decrease the difficulty of the enemies. Are you equipping items to the characters? This helps massively with attack output and survivability.

MassManic

Thanks for the advice. Points i had already allocated from the beginning of the update but rows i hadn't touched yet. I shall give it a try.

Rudy Keijnemans

Chochibini is a beast on its own too, I've tried allocating all the points to int for lev 20 characters on ahmia and the respective for attack on seiko, both arashi and Yami only deal ~800 dmg each, seiko after ahmia's special status appled can only deal ~100 dmg with normal attacks and tomo and michie 0 both with attacks and tecniques, only on random crit they can deal ~150dmg which happens very rarely, plus yami doesn't always successfully applies the status, or it does for a short time, and you're left with even less chance to do damage; the boss has ~11kHP, and you end up short-handed on turns to deal damage, especially because you need to alternate turns on applying marshmallow roots to remove silence since physical attacks seem pointless with 0 dmg. Stunning the monster does nothing on his silence attacks or the countdown, so it's not a viable tactic either. Dark orb/wave don't seem to attach the lower defence status either, so you're left with very little options to attack; only magic and jumps seem to work and those aren't sufficient even with all points allocated there

BrainDamage

Even with points allocated, the monsters are particularly strong; To get a rough idea of balance, you should be able to out-heal low ranked monsters, the problem is that it seems that normal enemies have an additional round of attack before you, so they end up shooting twice in a row, the rooster's special attack does 500 dmg to the whole team which is ~40% of the char's individual hp, if shot twice in a row it deals ~80% of each chars' individual hp and from my plays, it happens unfortunately somehow often. Tomo can only cure ~20% all team's hp at once, so depending on how your luck rolls you're setup in difficult battle where your members have to expend potions to stay alive vs a normal random enemy.

BrainDamage

You're welcome, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I shall get onto the Lily Extract for v0.04E, it doesn't seem to be a major problem at the moment and there have been no soft-locks or game-ending bugs reported so far. I forgot to tell people to 'Allocate' their stats in the menu and to equip items on the team. It should be fairly balanced then. Oh, and to put the team mates into rows in the 'Row' command in the menu too. I shall have another look at the roosters just in case it does need some tweaking. Thanks for the report!

MassManic

Allllllrighty MATE! Actually did not expect it today, guess I have my morning for the morrow planned out now though hahaha BTW: Does anyone know why the author of 'Kitsune Spirit' (Doitsuken) does not appear to have a way to throw moneis at em? https://twitter.com/doitsuken?lang=en (I just immensely enjoy that series and I just wonder why not, or perhaps I am blind) Language barrier is the culprit here for me.

NukeTis

Nice small update. Well for the bugs i only found one. It seems the red lily extract (revive) only works one not knocked out party members. If you try to use it on a knocked out member it just goes to next character on activating. As for the balancing difficulty for the enemies it may need some adjusting. One rooster could single handely wipe out my hole party with ease on 100% battle difficulty. This may also be because none of the abilities where leveled up :). Thanks for all the work.
