The ladies hit some rough waters when Julier says the N word. Yikes.

I think that the problem with Julier's "joke" is that 1) that, J associates Michelle with a race & not as a person and 2) no matter who or Michelle has accomplished, she becomes reduced to everything terrible associated with the N-word; Michelle was belittled & was, essentially, just another n-word. As someone of mixed race (both of my parents are 1/2 Black & 1/2 white), I've heard that word used in many ways by both Blacks & Whites. What hurts is the reductive isolation that comes with being called that. What hurts is that you are so obviously being judged by your race & not who you are. And I think white people are just pissed that there's something that they CAN'T say. When you come from a place of such privilege, having to restrain yourself in any area must feel like a lack of freedom.

This episode was...no words. Well, I have WORDS but you get me. That comment was so clueless. Michelle is bitchy but no one deserves what being called that word feels like. The CRAZIEST bit to me was the fact that the other cast members kept using the full word instead of the moniker 'N-word' while they were preaching about how terrible it is to use the offending word!

I think Depeche Mode said it best, People are people...✊️😘
