body & pose practice

some quick pose practice! i'm not doing these often enough tbh, but when i do i'm drawing many many in one go and it HELPS so much. it helped me a lot in improving during the last two years because when you do these you want to try to draw as much as possible in a short time (each pose takes around 20 - 30 seconds when you're used to it. i started with 3 minutes or more for one pose and felt like giving up after doing 5 omg).

the point is not to draw them as beautiful as possible, but dynamic and to capture what you want to tell. when there are anatomy mistakes or it looks wonky don't sweat it, don't fix anything, just start the next pose.

a small tip: when i started to draw and even years after that i struggled with full body things... just like most artists probably. until i found out that it helps immensely when i don't draw the heads.

really?? really! i'm not sure why, i think it's maybe because once you sketch out a head you get attached to it and you try to adjust the body to the head instead to draw the pose freely. so i only hint that there's a head and start with the torso, in flowy lines, and if i like the pose i can sketch the head on last. try it out maybe and tell me how it goes please! maybe it works for you too

you can use the sketches as references if you want, but the anatomy is probably off in some parts so be a little careful with that~ and if you have questions, just ask away of course!

ps. i'm sorry that it takes a bit to reply sometimes, but i'm trying to reply to as many of you as possible on here 💜

Make spaghetti with them ;). Or linguine. Oh wait, that's octopus. Now I want seafood again. Curious: when you draw the spirit, hybrid or manifest forms of your characters, do you find that easier or more challenging?

yep exactly! when i start with the head the body often ends up looking really stiff and i don't know what to do with all the limbs.....

Woohoo! Awesome to see these go up. And it's so true about the head! I used to start with them and always ended with a face I'd like and a body that didn't scale right.

That's pretty cool. Maybe I should try that too. I got so much problems with Anatomie and dynamic poses D: Yours look so awesome *___*
