Also, I kind of think that those guests were just douchebags IN GENERAL! I don't really think that I have a right to comment so much on gay culture as a straight women because I haven't had to carry any of the weight or reap any rewards of that aspect of the human experience. In the same way, I can say "ugh. My family can be such assholes!" and it's fine because it's MY family & I've earned that right to say so because I've put up with a lifetime of their shit. But if YOU say something unflattering about my family, we're going to fight. I think that's the case with Ben's opening comment about these guests living horrible gay stereotypes on this charter. I don't mean to sound annoying but I SINCERELY just think that those men were awful assholes & who they sleep with and their fitness level has nothing to do with it. I mean, ASSHOLES all come in every color of the rainbow & all different shapes, sizes, creeds, & religions! Why allow them off the hook for being basic bitches by tying their behavior into a knot with their identity? They just need to BE BETTER because, at the very least, they're on fucking TV so act right!!! These people last night shouldn't be allowed to cloak themselves in gay stereotypes. They behaved like run of the mill ASSHOLES and gay stereotypes are far more interesting than these people were. Now, when my family acts like fools, I see it & feel angry become embarrassed because I know how much better we are than that and "don't prove everyone right"! So I get Ben's disappointment with these people and defer to his absolute right to unapologetically say "yeah, they are acting like a stereotype" because he knows that they can be more than that. I say ALL OF THIS to say THANKYOU for being honest and making us laugh in the process!!! Don't apologize because, in some sense, these are members of your "family" and you feel a responsibility for how they present! #raspberrs #elderberrs #assholeshaming

I felt for Josiah this episode. I'm sure that this episode was produced in a way that would elicit such a response but my emotional & less cynical self wanted to love him, to tell those men to fuck off, & to get them off of that boat. "Below Deck" is a well produced reality show and not a documentary. As a viewer, there is always that pebble in my shoe that reminds me that the "reality" of these shows are being lovingly crafted by people working behind large, reflective windows with budgets and time codes and, not, necessarily, the events unfolding as they actually occurred. But Josiah's whole aura changed and you could see him go inside of himself, wearing his glasses to try and separate himself for the inescapable dread that was befalling him. Any adult who had been bullied knows that look & felt that same expectation of abuse, longing to disappear, and faint pulse of the hope that maybe, just maybe, you are just over sensitive and that everything is going to be just fine. So, my heart fell with his last night. It was a good episode of molded reality.
