update will be a little later this week! in scene 17 there's this one thing i hope turns out absolutely GORGEOUS because it's something important going on between them and it transitions into scene 18 (which i want to finish this month, too). i decided to take a bit more time for it than planned 👻
so how about i just show you a coloration step for a change!
my coloration technique when it comes to shading is kinda simple and i think it would be good for beginners, too. i only use one multiply layer on top of all base colors (except the skintone). then i take a nice fitting color and apply it generously and with VIGOR everywhere (panel on top). then i soften and blend a little. i'm doing both steps with the same brush. then i select the skintone layer and erase the overlapping shadows, et voila!
when needed i add some light into the eyes. usually i add some more depth with a color reflecting light from the surroundings (ie sunset colors = purple/red-ish color in hair and clothes) on another layer and blend it again, but that's really all i do. would you like to see something like this as a tutorial or speed paint some day?
and i want to share my brush settings of my favorite SAI brush with you. i use it for shading clothes, skin, backgrounds, and i paint flowers and branches with it, just everything 💜:

ps. thank you for your always encouraging words!! you give me poweerr 🔥
